It should come as no surprise that I love books! My parents started reading to us when we were really young and always encouraged us to read. I remember going to the library often as a kid. Heck I still have a library card today as you can get some many books from my beloved cookbooks to the latest fiction and even digital rentals too. I will celebrate National Book Lovers Day by reading some of Love Overboard by Janet Evanovich.
Books allow us to explore in a way nothing else does. One day you can be in the world of a nutty bounty hunter thanks to Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum novels and the next day you are cooking an Italian masterpiece from The Roads to Rome. They are the window to the world and I can’t imagine my life without them.
Right now I have so many books from my growing cookbook collection to my packed kindle, which currently has over 2,000 books on it. I am never short a book to read and even subscribe to kindle unlimited to have more books to choose from. Plus, I use Goodreads to track what I’ve already read so I don’t reread a novel (it’s happened before).
Everyday I see a new book I want and add it to my growing wish list. I don’t think I will ever finish reading all of the books I want to read. There are so many great writers today that anyone can find something they will enjoy reading.
Cookbooks give me so much joy as I love to look at them and imagine the great meals I will make with them. And then I get to make the meals giving me more joy from the reading, cooking and of course eating.
What are your favorite books? My favorite novel is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and my favorite cookbook is The Pioneer Woman Cooks Dinnertime by Ree Drummond. Do you have a favorite genre outside of cookbooks?
I’d love to hear what you are reading today on National Book Lovers Day.
