“I hope your cooking adventures are rich and delicious and fill your kitchen and dining room with laughter, smiles, and great joy,” Zac Posen.

As long as I can remember I have been a fan of Zac Posen, his designs are amazing. When I found Cooking with Zac I had to own this beautiful cookbook.

The cookbook is full of amazing recipes that range from decadent and complex to simple and beautiful. I found so many recipes that spoke to me and had a hard time narrowing down what I was going to make.

Cooking with Zac with be a cookbook that I use regularly especially to make the Hot Chocolate Bundt Cake!

George V Scrambled Eggs

Scrambled eggs are one of my favorite dishes to eat at any time. Lots of times I will whip some up for lunch with a piece of toast. This recipe seemed very simple and easy to follow.

I haven’t made eggs with heavy cream on a double boiler before, so this was a new technique I wanted to try. Since I don’t have a double boiler, I used a skillet over a saucepan of simmering water as suggested in the recipe. It did take over twenty minutes for the eggs to set for me. I believe the issue was the skillet I was using as it was conducting heat very well, should have used my Calphalon pan.

However, the eggs were worth the wait. They were creamy and light. I can’t wait to make them again.

Hot Chocolate Bundt Cake With Ganache Glaze

The beautiful photograph of this cake drew me in immediately. I was pleasantly surprised that I had most of the ingredients in my pantry. My bundt pan had gone missing so I bought a new one of those at HomeGoods for only $13.

To ensure great results make sure you measure out all of the ingredients for the cake before you start mixing up the batter. The cake mixed well together. It was the color of light hot chocolate mix when raw but baked much darker.

After I let the cake cool for two hours I made the ganache glaze. I followed the directions exactly; however, my glaze was much thinner than the glaze in the photo. It was rainy the day I made the cake so that may have affected the ganache glaze.

The cake still looked pretty and tasted amazing. It was so rich and paired perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I can see myself making this for special occasions and maybe now and then when I just really want something chocolate.

Cookbook Ratings: Recipe directions easy to follow: yes, Ingredients easy to find: yes, Specialty ingredients needed: no, Specialty equipment needed: no, Accurate time estimates: yes, Best for home chef skill level: novice, Taste/flavor: delicious, Family friendly: yes, specialty diet: no, How many recipes are unique: most, overall cookbook rating: love it

Most of use immediately associate Zac Posen with fashion and Project Runway. It intrigues me when a cookbook is released by someone who isn’t in the food world. Cooking with Zac is a great cookbook with detailed recipes and beautiful photography. This cookbook would look great on anyone’s coffee table, but I prefer to use it rather than just stare at it.

I intend to cook more of the recipes out of Cooking with Zac as I have loved everything I have made so far.
