The College Kitchen: 10 Cookbooks Every Student Should Own
Heading off to college is a big transition for both students and their parents! Between packing everything they’ll need, getting organized and making sure they’re ready for this next chapter, there’s a lot to think about. One thing that can easily get overlooked is cooking. Many college students now have access to kitchens and are cooking more of their own meals rather than relying on the campus meal plan. Having a few basic cooking skills and a few good cookbooks is a huge help!
My own love of cookbooks began in college. I had plenty of baking experience before heading off to school, but my cooking skills were another story! I remember turning to cookbooks (and a few cooking classes) to figure out what to make and how to do it.
So, what are the best cookbooks for college students? I’ve rounded up 10 cookbooks that would have been incredibly helpful to me back then and are perfect for helping today’s college students build their confidence in the kitchen. Even though a few of these may seem like odd choices at first for college students, trust me, they are perfect. No matter if your student is a complete beginner or already comfortable behind the stove, these books are a great place to start.

I hope you found a few cookbooks on this list that your college student would love. These are the kind of cookbooks I wish I had when I was first starting out. And who knows maybe they will start their own cookbook collection with these cookbooks. Happy cooking and good luck to all the college students heading into this exciting new chapter.
