    What Cookbooks Teach Us

    September 2, 2021 / No Comments

Cookbooks give home chefs access to a wealth of knowledge that we wouldn’t normally have. They can teach us how to master a new skill, help us explore a new cuisine or just help us understand what goes into a composed dish.  I have used cookbooks to take my cooking skills to the next level. They have guided me through recipes that I would never have tried without all the tips and tricks offered in the cookbooks. I wouldn’t have made all the improvements to my cooking without cookbooks as they have truly taught me how to cook. The five most important things cookbooks teach you are below.  1. How to Read a…

    Bobby Flay’s Throwdown!

    August 31, 2021 / No Comments

“Throwdown…It sounds like a brutal death match between two wrestlers or an Ultimate Fighting Championship cage fight. But in fact, a Throwdown is a friendly surprise competition and the best part about it is the ending, when we all get to eat some seriously delicious food,” Bobby Flay. I love Bobby Flay’s Throwdown, it is such a fun show to watch even now you always learn something from the show. Recently a friend lent me some of her cookbooks and I was so intrigued by Bobby Flay’s Throwdown! cookbook. It gives you Bobby’s recipe and the recipe from the competitor – it also tells you who won the competition. I couldn’t wait to…

    À Table

    August 24, 2021 / No Comments

“However you say it, Ă€ Table is about gathering over food and drink, coaxing the fantastical from the real, and unabashedly sharing it with your people,” Rebekah Peppler. It’s not a secret that I am a self proclaimed Francophile, so I am always on the lookout for my next favorite French cookbook. A lot of home chefs are scared of making French food worrying that the recipes are too complicated or that they won’t be able to find the ingredients. I have found that with the newer French cookbooks that you don’t really run into any of those problems. Ă€ Table offers a slew of recipes with simple instructions to make your next…

You can be healthy, lose weight, and still enjoy amazing food all day long,” Rocco Dispirito. I have always been a big fan of Rocco Dispirito. I recently found Craftsy an online platform offering classes in cooking, baking, cake decorating, photography, fun for kids, sewing and so much more. Currently they are offering a year long premium membership for just $3! It is normally $79.99!  I decided to take the Startup Library: Cooking class taught by Celeste Rogers. The class consists of  fifteen videos you can watch that will give you a lot of information on the basics you need to be able to cook in the kitchen.  She discusses the equipment you need and offers great tips as the lessons progress. I try not to be restrictive with what I eat, however, I always find myself searching for healthier versions of the recipes I love. The Healthy Swaps Cookbook offers so many scrumptious recipes that it’s hard not to make all of them at once. Throughout the book the photograph is beautiful and makes you crave something new for dinner with each page you turn. I loved both of the recipes I made and can’t wait to try more.

Take a trip to the Dutton ranch with this look inside the cookbook Yellowstone: The Official Dutton Ranch Family Cookbook: Delicious Homestyle Recipes from Character and Real-Life Chef Gabriel "Gator" Guilbeau. These homestyle recipes bring a mix of flavors straight to your table. A few of the recipes that I can’t wait to make are Potato Corn Chowder, John, Kayce, and Tate’s Glazed Venison Meatballs, Kickin’ Chicken Tenders with Pickled Jalapeno Sauce, Hush Puppies, Beth and Rip’s Sweet Blueberry Cobbler. Which recipe do you want to try first in your kitchen? P.S. I got my copy of this cookbook from a sale and it was missing the small dust jacket.
